          Moderne Slate Roofing Systems by TRACC has involved years of research and study. When the idea of creating a viable recyclable shingle came to light it was known that this shingle had to be significantly better than those on the market.

TRACC set about gaining the services of experts in the roofing field and the plastics field, testing and retesting materials to make sure that the product was 100% recyclable. We also wanted to make sure that it would gain the approval of what a roofer would look for in a shingle so we enlisted the help of veteran roofers collaborating and gaining there input.

The other challenge was that we wanted to exceed testing criteria, in the UV category we reached Florida Standards. In wind ratings we wanted to make the shingles as wind resistant as possible being able to sustain winds of upwards of 170km/h.

Finally we worked on aesthetics, Moderne Slate is actually molded in molds that have been shaped by real quarried slate, not just distressed to make a pattern.
